HC order on Khaleda's plea Monday

The High Court on Sunday fixed Monday to deliver an order on a writ filed challenging the government's decision to send Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia back to jail from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital and seeking her readmission.

The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Rajik Al Jalil fixed the date after hearing on the petition with supplementary information about Khaleda.

Earlier on November 13, the HC fixed November 15 to deliver its order on the writ.

However, the HC on Thursday asked to submit the supplementary information.

AJ Mohammad Ali stood for Khaleda and additional attorney general Murad Reza for state.

Barrister Nowshad Jamir filed the writ on November 11 with the concerned bench of the High Court.

The BNP chief was admitted to BSMMU on October 6 and was sent back to jail on November 8.

Khaleda was lodged in the old central jail on Nazimuddin road after she was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8.

On October 4, the HC directed the government to immediately admit Khaleda to BSMMU and form a new five-member medical board for her treatment.
