Barrister Rafique-Ul Huq(2 November 1935 – 24 October 2020) was a Bangladeshi Barrister and senior lawyer who served as the Attorney General of Bangladesh in 1990. He earned his MA and LLB degrees from Calcutta University in 1957 and 1958 respectively. He became a Barrister-at-Law in 1961 and called to the Lincoln's Inn in 1962.

Huq enrolled as an advocate in Calcutta High Court in 1960. He joined the High Court, Dhaka in 1962. In 1965 he became an Advocate, the Supreme Court of Pakistan. In the post-independence period he worked with the regime of Bangladesh's first president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to draft laws, including the 1972 Nationalisation Order. Under President Ziaur Rahman (1977-1981) he drafted laws to reverse this order. After the end of Rahman's military rule he successfully challenged laws that had been passed to indemnify the murderers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In 1975 Huq was made Senior Advocate, Appellate Division, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He became the Attorney General of Bangladesh (7 April 1990 - 17 December 1990).  

Huq provides legal advisory service to companies. He also seats in Board of companies and financial institutions.While in the Government legal service, he served as Chairman, Bangladesh Bar Council Tribunal and Bar Council Election Tribunal (1975-76) and Chairman, Bar Council of Bangladesh (1990).  He was an elected Member of the Executive Committee on International Taxation of the World Association of Lawyers and Member, World Executive Committee, Foreign Trade and Investment (Washington) and Member of Bangladesh Delegate to the UN General Assembly (1990).

He was a main writer of many of the country’s laws. He was a Member of the National Commission on Money, Banking and Credit and Chairman of Sub-Committee on Banking Laws under the Commission which wrote the current banking laws of Bangladesh (1984), Chairman of Corporate Laws Committee (1990), Member of the Company Law Reforms Committee (1977) and Member of the Committee for Improvement of the Stock Exchange Market in Bangladesh.  

Huq was the writer of various other laws for Bangladesh including Bangladesh Banks Nationalization Order 1972, Foreign/Private Investment (Promotion and Protection) Act 1980 and Board of Investment Act 1989.

He was active in social works.  He is Life Member and Vice Chairman of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh and Member of its National Council (since 1976), Life Member, Bangladesh National Society for the Blind, Chairman, Society for Education and Care of Hearing Impaired Children of Bangladesh, Chairman, Management Committee of BIRDEM Hospital and Secretary General, Management board, Dhaka Shishu Hospital.

Huq survived cancer in 1986 and afterwards contributed to improving healthcare provision for the poor. He established the Subarna Clinic in 1995, assisted in founding the Dhaka Children's Hospital and constructed a new 100-bed hospital at Kaliakowr. Huq Chaired the Department of Microbiology at BIRDEM General Hospital, the Nurjahan Ward at the Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital and the Ad-Din Medical College Hospital.

After his wife's death and surgery to his left leg in January 2017, Huq became increasingly reluctant to leave his Dhaka house. Huq died on 24 October 2020, aged 84. He had suffered from geriatric complications including anemia and urinary problems in Ad-Deen Hospital in Dhaka.
