Farhad Hossain (born 05 June 1972) is a Bangladesh Awami League Politician, incumbent State Minister and Member of Parliament representing Meherpur-1 constituency. He was elected from Meherpur-1 in the Tenth and Eleventh Parliament election. He is the current State Minister of Public Administration since 7th January 2019.

Farhad was born in Meherpur district in a family with strong political legacy. His father Mr. Sohiuddin Biswas was elected as a member of the National Assembly of erstwhile East Pakistan (present day Bangladesh) in 1970. Furthermore, Mr. Sohiuddin Biswas was elected Member of Parliament from Parliamentary Seat No. 73 (Meherpur 1) in the year 1973 and 1986. In 1975 he was elected as the District Governor of Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (BAKSAL). Mr. Biswas was one of the founding pioneers of the greater Kushtia Awami League. He was also one of the most trusted political disciples of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and a leading organizer of the great war of independence of Bangladesh in 1971. The oath taking ceremony of the first government of Bangladesh during the war of independence took place at Mujibnagar in Meherpur district on 17 April, 1971. Mr. Biswas played a crucial role in this oath taking ceremony as an organizer of this historic event.

After being awarded Master of Arts in English Linguistics from the University of Dhaka, Farhad commenced his professional career as an academic in the renowned Dhaka City College. He is the President of Meherpur District Awami League. From Meherpur-1 (Meherpur-Mujibnagar) parliamentary constituency, Farhad was elected Member of Parliament (MP) in the tenth and eleventh National Parliaments. During his term as MP in the tenth National Parliament he served as a member in the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Finance and a member of the Sub-committee on Money Laundering. During the same tenure he also served as an Executive Member of the ‘Muktijoddha Welfare Trust’.

Farhad is married to Syeda Monalisa Islam and father of two wonderful kids - Samin and Mahin.
