Jahangir Kabir Nanak (born 14 January 1954) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the former State Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives. He was elected as the Member of Parliament from the Dhaka-13 constituency twice in 2008 and 2014. He is a Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League.
Nanak was born in his ancestral home in Khird Mukherjee Lane area of Sadar Upazila of Barisal district. He holds a bachelor's degree in law. A lawyer by profession, Nanak was and is actively involved in politics.
Nanak was the General Secretary of Barisal District Chhatra League and a member of Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Committee in 1975. He was one of those who protested the assassination of Bangabandhu after the infernal incident of August 15, 1975, who informed the position of Awami League from a very small stage. For this he was tortured and oppressed.
Nanak was the General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League. After that, he served as the Chairman of the Jubo League during the difficult times of the party. He was the Organizing Secretary of Awami League, later served as Joint Secretary General. This brave freedom fighter has been imprisoned several times in his long political life. Currently, he is a presidium member of the Awami League's highest policy-making forum.
