Ashim Kumar Ukil (born 01 March 1957) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and Incumbent Member of Parliament representing Netrokona-3 (Atpara - Kendua) constituency in the Eleventh National Parliament. He is the Cultural Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. He is Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Culture and Member of the Central Board of Directors of Shilpakala Academy.

Ashim was born in Sandikona village of Sandikona union in Kendua upazila of Netrokona district to an aristocratic Ukil family. His wife Apu Ukil was the General Secretary of Bangladesh Jubo Mahila League and former Member of Parliament for reserved women's seat. Ashim started his education from Sandikona Primary School in Sandikona Union. He passed SSC examination in Science group in 1973 and HSC in Science group in 1975. He obtained B.Sc (Hons) degree in Statistics from Dhaka University in 1980 and M.Sc degree in Statistics from same University in 1981.

Ashim's political career began in post '75 Bangladesh through the Bangladesh Chhatra League. His student politics started from the student life of Dhaka University. In 1978-1980 he was the Publicity Secretary of Jagannath Hall Chhatra League. He was an elected Member of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) during 1980-1981. Ashim was the President of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Jagannath Hall Branch in 1981-1983. He served as a Joint Convener of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Dhaka University Branch in 1983-1986. He was a Co-Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Committee in 1984-1986 and a Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Committee in 1986-1989.  From 1989-1993, he got the responsibility of General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Committee. Step by step, he made his place in the politics of Bangladesh Awami League.

Ashim starts his central Awami League political career through a Co-Secretary (1993-2002) of Bangladesh Awami League Central Sub-Committee. This leader, who was also important in the student mass uprising of the 90s, became Deputy Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee in 2002, which continued until 2019. He held the same position for four consecutive conferences i.e. 2002-2009, 2009-2012, 2012-2016 and 2016-2019. In the conference of 2019, he got the responsibility of Cultural Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee. He became an MP for the first time in the 2018 election.

Ashim again got the responsibility of Cultural Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee in 2022’s conference.
