Amal Sen’s death anniv Today

The 13th anniversary of death of Tebhaga Movement leader Amal Sen, also the Workers Party of Bangladesh founding president, will be observed today.
Workers Party and Comrade Amal Sen Smritirakkha Committee have taken elaborate programmes to observe the day.
Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon, also the civil aviation, tourism minister, and central leaders opened the three-day programmes of the party by placing wreaths on the portrait of Amal Sen on Saturday.
Then, ruling Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim, also the AL-led ruling alliance coordinator, Communist Party of Bangladesh president Mujahidul Islam Selim, Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, Oikya NAP president Pankaj Bhattachrya and others placed wreaths on the portrait.
Comrade Amal Sen Smritirakkha Committee will hold two-day programmes at Amal Sen’s ancestral village Bakri in Narail from today.
The programmes include placing wreaths on cremation centre, commemoration meeting, farmer rally, fair and cultural events.
Workers Party central leaders will attend the programmes, a party release said.
Amal Sen was born at Bakri village in Narail in 1914 and died in the capital on January 17, 2003 at the age of 89.
