Derailment in Comilla disrupts Dhaka-Ctg-Sylhet train services

Train communications on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes were suspended as two wheels of a passenger coach of an inter-city train derailed at Jangalia near Mynamati rail station under Sadar Dakkhin upazila in Comilla on Thursday morning. No incident of injury was reported. Witnesses said the derailment took place when the Chittagong-bound Jalalabad Express that had started from Sylhet with 28 compartments, veered off the track at Jangalia while it was approaching Mynamati rail station at around 10:00am.

The derailment halted train services on the Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes, our Comilla correspondent reported. Comilla railway station master, Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan, said a salvage train from Laksam already started for the accident spot to right the derailed coach. No train was stranded in Comilla station during the derailment, he said.
