VIOLENCE CASE Charges pressed against Fakhrul, Moudud, Abbas among 36

The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has submitted a charge sheet against Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 35 others, including senior leaders, in a case filed over violence in the capital on March 2, 2013.DB inspector Md Enamul Haque, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the court of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate against the accused and sought arrest warrant against those who were in hiding, the officials said.
BNP standing committee members Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas  and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman , joint secretary general Amanullah Aman, and its front and associate organisation leaders Moazzam Hossain Alal, Saiful Alam Nirab,  Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Azizul Bari Helal, Shafiul Bari Babu, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie,  SM Jahangir, Rafiqul Alam Majnu, Habibur Rashid Habib, Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel, Ishaque Sarker, Mamun Hossain, Enamul Haque and Humayun Kabir, among others, were named in the charge sheet.
Most of the accused were out on bail while a number of others, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir were in jail, said sub-inspector Aminur Rahman of Paltan police station.
‘The charge sheet was submitted a few days ago and will be produced in the court concerned shortly,’ Aminur said.
Sub-inspector Habibur Rahman filed the case with the Paltan police over cocktail blasts, vandalising and torching vehicles and attack on the police at Shantinagar during a procession on March 2, 2013.
The police named 26 BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul, Moudud Ahmed and Amanullah Aman, and 1000 to 1200 unidentified people in the case.
According to the charge sheet, the charges were brought against the BNP men for blasting cocktails, vandalising and torching vehicles and attacking the police at Shantinagar during a procession.
The investigator also named 35 people in the charge sheet as prosecution witnesses in the case.
