Sakib hopes to come back stronger

Ace all-rounder Sakib al Hasan on Tuesday asked for support from the cricketing fraternity and was determined to return to international cricket stronger than ever at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Sakib was handed a two-year ban from cricket by the International Cricket Council after failing to inform the authorities about getting approached by a bookmaker on multiple occasions in 2018.

Bangladesh Cricket Board called for a press conference in the evening at its headquarters to address the issue and Sakib was also present and was seen standing beside president Nazmul Hasan. The 32-year old first read out his official statement in the ICC’s media release and then spoke to media, asking for support in this troubled time.

‘Those who have supported me over the years I hope they, the fans, BCB, government, the journalists will continue their support in my bad and good time,’ he said.

Sakib, however, was determined to return to international cricket once his bans ends, and perform better than ever.

‘If you continue the support i am hopeful that I will make comeback in cricket soon. I will be stronger and will perform my responsibilities with more sincerity,’ he said.
