Khaleda to fly for London Tuesday

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson, Khaleda Zia, would fly for London on Tuesday for medical treatment for her eyes.
Khaleda would celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in London along with her family members including her eldest son Tarique Rahman, also BNP senior vice-chairman, his wife and daughter, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan told reporters after a meeting of senior and mid-ranking BNP leaders held at Khaleda’s Gulshan office on Sunday night.
At the meeting, Khaleda directed the party leaders to work for the party vigorously investing their highest strength during her absence, he said.
BNP standing committee members, vice-chairmen, Khaleda’s advisers, joint secretaries general and presidents and general secretaries of BNP’s associate organisations attended the meeting that lasted for more than an hour from about 9:30pm.
Nazrul said that Khaleda would return home as soon as possible.
Asked whether Khaleda would return home before Eid-ul-Azha, he said that they requested her to celebrate Eid with her family members in London.
He said that after the death of her youngest son Arafat Rahman, Khaleda did not meet her eldest son Tarique, who was staying in London.
Nazrul said that Khaleda was supposed to go to London earlier for treatment for her eyes but could not do so because of political reason.
He said that the meeting was summoned before her going to London to discuss the organisational matters particularly the ongoing reorganisation of the party.
He said that Khaleda asked the party leaders to quickly constitute the committees in districts, metropolitan cities, municipalities, thanas and upazilas as per instructions given in letters issued in August.
BNP standing committee members Moudud Ahmed, Mahbubur Rahman, Jamiruddin Sircar, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, vice-chairman Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, BNP chairperson’s advisers Shahjahan Omar, Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin, joint secretaries general Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Mohammad Shahjahan, Jubadal president Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Mahila Dal general secretary Shirin Sultana, among others, attended the meeting.
