Police arrests fugitive at Teknaf Rohingya camp

Police on Monday arrested a man, who fled from police custody at Chattogram court building on Sunday afternoon, raiding Leda Rohingya camp of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.

The arrested was identified as Abul Kalam, 25, a Rohingya youth, said Mohammad Nezam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station.

The OC said that a team of Kotwali police station arrested Abul Kalam raiding Leda Rohingya camp in Teknaf at about 5:00am.

Earlier on Sunday afternoon, Abul Kalam fled from police custody at Chattogram court building.

The department of narcotics control on Sunday morning arrested Abul Kalam in Chattogram city along with 1,050 pieces of Yaba tablets. Later, they filed a case against Abul Kalam and handed him over to the Kotwali police.

Kotwali police took Abul Kalam to Chattogram court building to produce him before the court. He managed to flee from police custody while he was on the way to the court jail.

However, Chattogram Metropolitan Police on Sunday evening suspended three policemen, including a sub-inspector, for their negligence in duty.

Police also filed another case against Abul Kalam as he fled from police custody.
