Couple killed in Jamalpur as truck ploughs through roadside house

A man and his wife were killed as a truck ploughed through their roadside house at village Garohori of Dewanganj upazila in Jamalpur early Monday.

The deceased are Joynal Abedin, 48, a farmer, and his wife Hasina Begum, 40.

Dewanganj police officer-in-charge Mohabbat Kabir said that the Rowmari-bound fertiliser-laden truck skidded off the road and ploughed through the roadside house after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the couple, who were asleep, dead on the spot.

However, the driver managed to flee the scene, the OC added.
