LDA calls countrywide half-day strike on August 25

Left Democratic Alliance, a combine of seven left leaning parties, called countrywide half-day strike on August 25, demanding withdrawal of recent hike in the prices of fuel oil, and fertiliser.

The coordinator of LDA, Abdus Satter, announced the programme on Tuesday at the ending of its march towards the prime minister’s office at Shahbagh intersection, where police stopped the marchers.

LDA and Nine left parties called the countrywide half-day hartal from 6:00am to 12:00pm simultaneously.

The coordinator of Nine Left Parties, Zafar Ahmed, told New Age that they would hold parallel programmes with LDA on August 25.

Earlier on March 28, the LDA enforced countrywide half-day hartal protesting against the increase of gas price.
