No chance of shifting from current election process : Quader

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that there was no chance of shifting from the ongoing process of holding the next general election by the end of this year.
Referring to a Bangladesh Nationalist Party indication that the party might contest the upcoming general election if the government shifts from the present electoral system, Quader said that there was no scope of shifting from the electoral process.
The next general election will be held as per constitutional provisions under the government, added Quader, also road transport and bridges minister.
He was addressing a discussion styled ‘resist extremism and distorted publicity’ at National Museum Auditorium in Dhaka organised by the publicity and publication sub-committee of Awami League.
Referring to recent student protests for safe roads and reformation of quota system in government jobs, Quader said that some vested quarters were conspiring to wage similar movements before the general election.
‘We know all about the conspiracies. No conspiracy will be successful and our government will face the conspiracies’, Quader said.
Students and teachers of different schools attend the event.
Chaired by the committee secretary Hasan Mahmud, the discussion was also addressed by central leaders of the party AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Shamsunnahar Champa, Aminul Islam and Marufa Akter Poppy, and Ekattor TV chief executive officer Mozammel Haque Babu.
